#2 - 5 Ways to Rock Your Wedge Shoes

Wedges come in all shapes and designs; pumps, sandals, slippers, open toed, pointies, round toed. . . you name it and there is probably a wedged version of it. They are beautiful heels which give you the height minus the discomfort of walking with the stiletto heel.

Wedge heels are extremely versatile as they can either be dressed up or dressed down, depending on the occasion.

Brief Description

On most shoes, the "heel" sits under only the heel of the foot, but a wedge heel runs under the foot, from the back of the shoe to the middle or front (About.com). It is pertinent to note that not all wedge shoes are high heels, there are some with really low heels.

So what makes a shoe a wedge shoe? It is all about the heels. How the heel lies is what determines whether a shoe is a wedge shoe or not.

5 Ways to Wear Wedges

The best way to wear your wedges is with flowing stuff; dresses, gypsy skirts, thin materials and bohemian styles. However, this season has seen a shift to more generic styles such as skinny jeans and shorts.

1. Flared Jeans

Add a bit of chic style to your flared jeans. Depending on you accessories, this can be used for a day out shopping with your girls, or an evening out in town. Either way, you remain comfy and still look sophisticated.

2. Short Shorts

Cameron Diaz adds fun to this classy outfit. A pair of shorts and a fitted tee, throw on a layered jacket and you are ready for business.

3. Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans work with a tunic top. This gives a breezy but classy look to your outfit. Combine with chunky accessories and you are ready to go. To create a different look, use a fitted tee with the skinny jeans but do not do this if you are bottom heavy. Skinny jeans will not do much for your generous curves and combining with a high wedge will just make it more pronounced.

4. Short Skirt or Dress

Angelyne is especially lovely in this ensemble. However if you want to try this, tone down the colour a bit. :)

5. Gypsy Skirt

Wedges go really well with gypsy skirts. The heels could be high or low, it does not really matter. If you are wearing a gypsy skirt, use a fitted tank top or tee. Flowing tunics or tops are totally OUT. Unless you can pull it off.
